On "It's About Time", the first solo disc from Greg Chaisson, the Badlands bassist goes back to his roots and digs deep into a set of 12 outstanding killer blues/rock heavy guitar trax with a way-kool 70's power trio vibe. Greg Chaisson is best known for playing bass in the rather awesome Badlands (featuring Jake E. Lee & Ray Gillen), however he has also laid down the "low-end bottom kool" on discs by Blindside Blues Band, Craig Erickson, Darrell Mansfield, Die Happy & Surgical Steel, to name a few.
"It's About Time" finds the bad-ass bassist paying tribute to his musical roots and heroes of the 70's. He also has found his "voice" and handles the lead vocals with a raw, gutsy, bluesy authority on songs that count. Complete with Eric Singer (Badlands & Kiss) on drums and Jim McMellen on guitar (J.M. is an awesome, obscure rippin' bluesy heavy axeslinger who sounds like Snuffy Walden's twin brother!) the power trio get-down to serious business on a solid set of hard-assed heavy blues/rock riffage that will trip your brain and kick your ass.
Bassically (pun intended!) recorded "live in the studio" for an authentic raw, live feel and complete with a top-shelf production, "It's About Time" comes across and is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to fans of JOHNNY WINTER, HUMBLE PIE, CREAM, STRAY DOG and early, vintage Z.Z. TOP ("Blues for the Rev. Willy G." & "Wat-Cha-Go-Na-Du" are dedicated to the "little 'ole band from texas"!!!) Fans of Badlands and the Blindside Blues Band will also really dig the "It's About Time" disc. And as a special added bonus, Rob Lamothe (ex-Riverdogs) lends his awesome lead vocal power on "The River" (an amazing beautiful track written for and dedicated to Ray Gillen... long live brother ray). This track alone is worth the price of admission. Rob Lamothe is one of the greatest rock vocalists of our time and he sings his ass off on "The River".
If you dig outstanding, killer blues/rock power trio riffage with a way-kool solid 70's vibe then you owe it to yourself to tune into the awesome "It's About Time" disc. You'll be glad you did!!! Recorded at the Mixing Lab, Garden Grove, California. Personnel: Greg Chaisson (vocals, bass); Rob LaMothe, Jim Zappa (vocals); Wayne Eames (acoustic guitar, dobro); Jim McMellen (guitar, slide guitar); Ken Hitsman (guitar); Mike Steele, John Fowler (harmonica); Pat Regan (Hammond B-3 organ); Marc Danzeisen (vibra slap, tambourine, percussion, background vocals); Eric Singer (drums); Devra Dishington (background vocals).
