Feelds is the project of Melbourne / Naarm-based songwriter and producer, James Seymour, who has an aptitude for creating intricate, multi-faceted worlds from even the simplest of ideas.
After selling out the launch of his EP, ‘Hunch’ in early 2018 and amassing over 3 million streams on Spotify, Feelds quickly turned his attention to crafting his debut album, ‘Cut Your Teeth’ in 2019. Initial singles, ‘Kill The Moon’ & ‘Bloody Mary’ earned him rotation on triple J and Double J and saw the live band perform alongside the likes of Gretta Ray, Didirri & Clea.
Inspired by old photo albums of his parents' former lives as Karate champions, ‘Cut Your Teeth’ truly set the foundations for Feelds as a self-produced artist - exploring themes of nostalgia and family within the walls of thoughtfully unique instrumentation.
A 2020 lockdown project saw Feelds collaborate with fellow Melbourne artist, Merpire, on a one off EP under the name, Wilson’s Prom. The EP garnered praise from triple J Unearthed and NME, whilst also finding its way abroad, becoming the #1 most added on the North American College and Community Radio charts in the U.S.
Sparking a desire to collaborate more within the Feelds project, James began writing with the likes of Julia Deans, S.A.B and Mimi Gilbert to piece together his sophomore album, which is due for release in September 2023 and also features vocals from Allysha Joy and Elizabeth M. Drummond.
The genre blurring next chapter for Feelds is James at his most self-assured and magnetic, with a magnitude of layers that reveal themselves more and more with each listen. Most recent singles ‘Sweet Tooth’, ‘Kaleidoscope’ and ‘Skullcrusher’ drip with warm nostalgia as Feelds creates a more collaborative, experimental and resolute world towards his sophomore album, ‘Brilliant Mud’, which is due in September 2023.
