Music For Dreams are proud to present Frecuencia, the next album by electronic artist Ken Fan, to be released on September 5th.
Since coming up as a DJ in the late nineties, The British-Chinese producer and DJ has founded an impressive career on his love for Balearic music. His ability to re-imagine the genre and advance its warm ethos into new sounds has made him a central presence on the Balearic scene, figuring appropriately as Café Del Mar’s only inhouse resident DJ.
As a producer and artist, Fan proceeds from the same eclectic and imaginative spirit that earned his sets their special reputation. Through dubby downtempo, sweeping ambient and spectral trip-hop beats, Fan sustains a distinctive Balearic thread—a melodic and textural fullness that typifies his musical identity.
Frecuencia comprises nine tracks sketched out by Fan in his Ibiza home, on tour, in airports and hotels, and then finalized in the Music For Dreams studio in Copenhagen. The tracks range from the thrumming nocturnal air of ‘Under The Moon’ to the blissed out expanse of ‘Mariwo’ to the swirling gothic-electro of the title track. The album features collaborations and vocalists on several tracks, including Vicky Kroon, George Solar and vocal trio Iyami Aje who sing in both Spanish and Bantú.
Frecuencia follows Ken Fan’s debut LP of last year, Momentum of Love (Music For Dreams).
