Julek Ploski - Hotel ***** (2023)

Warsaw’s julek ploski presents a new album Hotel ***** . A cinematic collection that shows a hybridity between baroque composition and electronic production, Hotel ***** balances a strident melancholic sense of hardcore urgency with delicate fairytale affect. Though rarely veering into direct dance music, the album uses those crescendo-based tropes to narrative ends, creating spellbinding and dynamic movements of electronic music. Both ornate and dysphoric, the album transposes a kind of hyperreal iron-age orchestral folklore into a bombed out digital sci-fi wasteland; a symphony of shattered mythic motifs being bit-warped on the last harddrive in the fallout shelter.
