Steve Lukather, Larry Carlton - Tokyo 1998 (2020)

STUNNING 1998 TOKYO BROACDAST RECORDING FROM THIS ESTEEMED PAIR OF JAZZ GUITARISTS When Steve Lukather - guitarist, singer, songwriter, arranger, record producer, prolific session musician and the sole continuous founding member of Toto - teamed up with the equally productive session and solo-guitarist Larry Carlton, initially in 1994 for the Live At The Greek album, the results were magical. As the partnership flourished through 2001 s No Substitutions: Live in Osaka and more recently on 2016 s At Blue Note Tokyo, Lukather and Carlton have become a staple live act on the smooth jazz circuits. The duo s tour of Japan in 1999, on which the aforementioned live LP No Substitutions was recoded, featured a stunning performance by the pair in Tokyo at the city s Blue Note venue (and where they returned in 2016 for the recording of their live album of that year) which was recorded for live FM Broadcast across the greater Tokyo vicinity. Previously unreleased (their Osaka gig was chosen as the show of choice to release at the time), many fans believe this recording and concert to be the superior event, and it is now available on this CD in its glorious entirety.
