DIIEMETRICS TOTALE is the latest transmission from musical and spiritual collective DIIE. While the group spent the mid-to-late 2010s honing a krautrock-influenced brand of heavy guitar-based music (threading together elements of shoegaze, ambient, psych-rock and desert jazz) the new decade found the group retreating into inner-space to make something new. DIIE now emerges (partnered with the DIIEMETRICS organization, a non-denominational group) dedicated to learning and healing via music that is both more aggressively experimental and weirdly serene.
DIIEMETRICS TOTALE - a collection of five lengthy spiritual journeys meant to help listeners commune with the mysteries of the divine - opens with “The Unknowable Name,” a defiant statement of purpose that moves from pounding aggression to atmospheric synth-driven krautrock topped with digitally mangled vocals. Throughout, these vocals are employed to de-personalize the narrator and bring listeners into the musical space.
DIIEMETRICS TOTALE is many things - an abstract prayer to god, a weird rock album (for fans of Trans Am, Autolux, Air, Kikagaku Moyo, Kraftwerk, YMO, etc.), an attempt at touching the divine, a paean to our master, etc.
