Oistrakh's Beethoven, which was the third and last session recording, is the only co-star with Cluytens. Since its first appearance, it is a transcendent performance that continues to reign as a masterpiece. The rich sound of the violin and the exquisite interplay between the snuggling orchestra is a must-listen. Brahms' double concerto is the third sound source out of four recordings, and the performance is as good as the later album with Cell. It is a masterpiece that features an inner performance that goes as far as chamber music with Fournier.
