This is the world's first SA-CD version of one of the most famous records of this song! Includes an overture conducted by later Isselstedt. New mastering in the home country from the original analog master
These Beethovens, recorded by Backhaus between the ages of 74 and 75, swept the world in an instant, partly because of the transition from the monaural period to the stereo period, and the demand for LPs increased dramatically. DECCA had a previous complete work, and it was a highly acclaimed performance, but in this recording, which has reached a higher level with age, Backhaus is more than just a famous German pianist, but as an artist. Acquiring eternal evaluation worldwide, it became a monumental sound source. Of course, there are also the results of excellent recording by DECCA, and it is certain that the Wiener Philharmoniker at that time and Isselstedt, who first appeared in DECCA, had a lot to do with their abilities. After this, it led to the session recording of the complete Beethoven symphonies for the first time by the Vienna Philharmonic from the mid-1960s.
This complete piano concerto has very few opportunities to be remastered in the CD era, especially in the domestic edition, which has been released as a low-priced edition many times. In this reprint, the original analog master tapes in Japan have been directly converted to DSD, so the texture of each instrument in the orchestra and the fine touch and tone of the piano are revived. In particular, the sense of scale of the piano and the extension of the sound below the midrange are wonderful, and I think you can hear the skillfulness of the hidden control behind Backhaus's technique.
