New AussieDutch label Wilbur & Moore Records like their music lo-fi and home recorded and their latest release by Brother Of Monday (i.e., Peter Bothum from Newark, Delaware) checks both of those boxes without a doubt. The album apparently was released earlier this year and Wilbur & Moore have now released it on CD to celebrate their collaboration with the act. It’s my introduction to the band, and I was happy to read that more Brother Of Monday is in the pipeline.

I find much to like about this BoM project and believe it has a little bit to a lot to offer to everyone. For a lo-fi home recorded project, Brother Of Monday can sound pretty loud and blunt, but vulnerable and subtle as well. Often, the music can be intense and haunting and that may explain why Neutral Milk Hotel and Daniel Johnston come to mind. Add an eclectic mix of additional styles and influences to the mix and you get a record that is worth chewing on. Is it me or is tagging along to Peter Bothum’s creative splurge a pretty great way to spend your listening time?
