Rudolf Kempe, who has been promoting reprints on the Tower Planning Board, has compiled a collection of seven precious orchestral albums with the Vienna Philharmonic left on the former EMI label in the late 1950s and early 1960s into a 5-disc set. Each original album is arranged in the order in which it first appeared, and in the second half of DISC 1-4, 2 albums without titles, a total of 5 songs, were recorded separately. Although it is a small piece, it is only a masterpiece that makes use of the special mentions of both. It is a lively performance that is typical of Kempe, and the sound is so fresh that you can't believe it was recorded in the early days of stereo. It is a wonderful sound quality and performance that will be the first SACD.
As you know, Kempe has recorded across several labels, and in particular, has left excellent recordings with independent orchestras, but the ones that are still well listened to after stereo are the Munich Philharmonic, the Staatskapelle Dresden, and the Berliner Philharmoniker. On the other hand, the Vienna Philharmonic is well known for ``Wagner's Lohengrin'' (TDSA142: out of print), and other orchestras mainly consisted of large-scale symphonies and orchestral works. At that time, although there were various reasons why Kempe recorded only small projects (for reference, Kempe was never called to the Vienna Philharmonic regular), it may be a forgotten sound source. In fact, these albums have been candidates for reprints for several years, but it took a long time to find the master tapes (in fact, some of the short pieces with the Berliner Philharmoniker had unknown masters in the past), and due to the difficulty of coupling, it was not possible to commercialize them immediately. This time, although it took a long time to search, as long as I listened to the master who actually came, I was surprised at the freshness of the sound quality. Perhaps because the tape was used infrequently (there were few reprints), the tone of the time was left like an excavated time capsule. Any concerns that it might have been a bad match will be blown away, and I think that you can enjoy the lively Kempe-like music making with the highest sound quality than ever before.
