The song form of the "Jubilus", the wordless outbreak in tones and melodies, can be found in all religious cult forms, starting from the song of the birds. The church father Augustine often defined jubilation as an "inarticulate expression of excessive joy at the sight of the greatness of creation" or as an "immediate voice of the soul beyond all words".
