Haddaway - Pop Splits (2005)

Pop Splits is the sixth studio album of dance artist Haddaway, released by German studio Coconut. Alexander Nestor Haddaway, better known by his stage name Haddaway, is a Trinidadian-American singer. He is most famous for his worldwide 1993 hit "What Is Love".

Haddaway was born in Trinidad/Tobago and spent time as a child in different countries. He can now speak English, Dutch, French, German and Cologne. He loves race cars and was even a driver in the Porsche Cup. He worked to get a doctorate in political science and history from George Washington University. Haddaway has also been a choreographer as one of his many occupations.

While it seems like he has had quite a life outside of music, Haddaway is probably best known for his contributions in that field. He has received a World Music Award, a Goldene Europa and more. He was instantly in the spotlight when he released his self-titled debut album in February of 1993, which featured the hit song "What is Love." The album reached number 111 on the Billboard 200 chart and brought attention to this multi-faceted artist. The Euro-dance pop featured on the album was a hit with fans and he was in high demand. That album also feature the hit single "Life (Everybody Needs Somebody to Love)."

He released The Album 2nd Edition the same year, which featured remixes of songs on his first album and adds a few new tracks. The follow up, The Drive, followed but did not garner the same attention as his debut. Despite the lack of commercial success, Haddaway continued to release albums throughout the 1990s and 2000s. His albums include Let's Do It Now (1998), All the Best (1999), My Face (2001), Love Makes (2001) and Pop Splits (2005) as well as a number of greatest hits albums.
