Part of a reissue program marking 20 years of skin in the game, ‘Earth’ returns on Marc Richter aka Black To Comm’s Cellule 75 label after original issue with De Stijl. It is surely dominated by Vindicatrix’s harrowed croon as much as BTC’s illusive avant arrangements, but also features crucial input by Renate Nikolaus (Harmonium, Violin, Percussion [Metal Objects], Effects [Spring Reverb], Noises [Clock], Musical Box, Toy Piano), and Rutger Zuydervelt (aka Mchienfabriek) who all enrich its slow-burn fever dream qualities and operatic staging in a mesmerising journey between the nocturnal alchemy of ’Stickstoff II’ and stately conclusion ‘Mirror’, via the magisterial spiral of ‘The Children’. “From the original De Stijl one-sheet: "Richter's already formidable expressive power stretches over all of Earth. Reflecting the countless cyclical forces that make up, oh, more or less everything we know and are, the music on Earth is bracing, lovely, bustling and still, and at times bittersweet, a commingling of sensations and emotions that can't be neatly separated from one another. (Earth is complex, as you know.) Guests on Earth include David Aird, aka Vindicatrix, contributing startling vocal work; Renate Nikolaus on an array of instruments and noise devices; Rutger Zuydervelt (singing bowls); and Christopher Kline (singing saw).
