Kalaatsakia is Haslam's fourth album and sees the US producer flit between underground techno and more experimental sounds. This approach is audible from the get-go with the angular, jacking "Broadcast" followed by the weird, dissected tones and blips of "Kalapuyan" and the atmospheric white noise of "Nxbound". Despite moving between these diverse bases, there is also some middle ground and the aptly named "Transdisciplinary" and the more brooding "Kjolle" are hypnotic electro workouts. In the main though, this is a work of extremes. This is best characterised by the contrast between the melancholic synths and head nodding beats on "Rservoir" and the storming analogue techno of "Istvaeonic".
