Canadian born artist, CEE makes her introduction with her debut solo album S.L.P.

She teamed up with long time collaborating producer ‘Coflo’ to deliver a project that displays versatility and a wide range of sound. The album has notes of sounds from the past but takes on a new approach with a heavy lean into digital production, playing into a Retro-Futurism thematic realm. It’s multi-genre approach ranges from funky dance floor burners to slow and sensual heart wrenchers to some feel good inspiring messages that will leave you with a well rounded emotional journey by the end.

SLP which stands for ‘Sex, Love, Power’ is also known by it’s more common use as a digital currency used in the Metaverse called Smooth Love Potion’ Sex, Love and Power are the 3 most basic things that make the world go round, they are at the root of almost all decisions we make at our most primal human level, and at the root of every song on this album. Smooth Love Potion is a nod to the idea of ‘virtual value’, a construct of whatever we choose to believe holds worth. To hear a record is an experience, it is not something we can really ‘own’ so beyond the ticket price, it’s value is entirely in the hands of the listener. We are moving into an age of virtual existence from the expansion into the Metaverse, to A.I technology, to NFTs, and to the digital music industry. Holding a physical record in your hands and hearing it crackle on the record player is becoming much more of a rare luxury… hence the album’s additional vinyl release! In it’s nature, by moving into a world of completely intangible value and placing higher worth on these things, we in turn create a higher desirability for these simple but irreplaceable human experiences and to find ways to bring these worlds together. CEE plays further into this idea of marriage between virtual and lived experience with her first single ‘Make You Miss Me’ and it’s accompanying revolutionary music video. Using VR technology and a 360 camera, the viewer is invited to enter into the space with 6 different versions of ‘CEE’ in the room with them dancing, moving and interacting with herself in a tightly self-choreographed mind-bending scene. The interactive experience allows the viewer to freely look around the room at will, creating a ‘choose your own adventure’ experience that can be different every time. Using this new technology and virtual space to create a real lived experience for the consumer. Old meets new. Tradition and Revolution. Retro-Futurism.
