Join us for the album release concert of The Continental String Ensemble’s debut 1893 Album “Music from the Era of the Chicago World’s Fair” on Centaur Records, which will be released on Friday June 16. The group is led by violinist Edgar Gabriel with harpist Tija Danilovics, violin/violist Hannah Barton, violist Ai Ishida Melby, and guitarist Steven Vazquez for a total of 65 strings! They will perform their own unique arrangements of turn of the century parlor music by composers such as Joplin, Schrammel, Massenet, and Dvorak. The album also includes an original work which utilizes classical improvisation. Ever versatile musicians, this group is known to perform music not just from the ‘Gilded Age’ but other styles as well. Edgar is one of Chicago’s premier jazz/rock violinists and will most certainly bring his fiddling to the stage.
