Heavy Crown is the debut album by supergroup Last in Line. Last in Line is a British rock band formed in 2012 by former members of the original lineup of Dio. The band's name comes from the 1984 Dio album The Last in Line. Following the death of frontman Ronnie James Dio in 2010, the original lineup of drummer Vinny Appice, bassist Jimmy Bain, guitarist Vivian Campbell, and keyboardist Claude Schnell reunited along with vocalist Andrew Freeman to perform the Dio songs they originally recorded. The band released a studio album of original material without Schnell titled Heavy Crown in February 2016. This was the last album on which Jimmy Bain played the bass guitar before his death on January 23, 2016, less than a month prior to the album's release.

The debut album from drummer Vinny Appice, bassist Jimmy Bain, guitarist Vivian Campbell, keyboardist Claude Schnell, and vocalist Andrew Freeman's post-Dio outfit, the aptly named Heavy Crown offers up a cornucopia of old-school metal might, spilling over with soaring vocals and meaty riffs. Last in Line were originally devised as a Dio covers/tribute band that would focus on material from the group's first three albums, Holy Diver, The Last in Line, and Sacred Heart, but after playing a series of well-received shows, the bandmembers decided to forge their own path. Heavy Crown is also last recording project to feature the talented Jimmy Bain, who passed away in early 2016.
