One of the best performances of this song, the latest 2018 reissue of Muti's first full-length opera by a gorgeous cast at the peak!
The world's first SACD of the former EMI masterpiece recorded in 1974 as Muti's first complete opera. This album, full of dynamism and vitality throughout, is one of the best recordings of "Aida". It is still highly acclaimed as an orthodox opera recording completed by a young Muti with passion and driving force, along with a gorgeous cast and excellent chorus at the peak of his life. The excellent recording that confined the performance with the air of the times has been revived as the latest 2018 modern reprint. A detailed commentary by Yasuo Takasaki is also revived this time (88 pages including commentary and translation of the work). It is a special release with a parallel translation of the lyrics and a serial number limited to 800 sets. For this reprint, we used a master digitized at 96kHz/24bit from the original master in our country, and newly mastered the SACD layer and CD layer separately. It is a permanent preservation board. In addition, this reprint will be released as a 2-disc set, just like the previous domestic CD releases.
"Aida" became a hot topic because it was Muti's first opera recording, and because it used a singer at the peak of her career. It is an important sound source that became the starting point for many of Muti's opera recordings, including Verdi. In terms of recording, the former EMI label's opera recording was almost completed in 1974, and the original recording method of the opera, which emphasized the voice, was followed. This recording contains sounds with a lot of information that convey the enthusiasm and comfortable tension of everyone, including the players, vocalists, and producers who were involved in this recording at the time. Of course, I could feel it in the past, but in this reprint, the state of the master tape was very good, so you can feel the atmosphere of the time more vividly. The atmosphere, overtones and localization of each voice are beautifully reproduced in the space, so this work is full of elements that you can enjoy to your heart's content.
