With their fourth album, "Strong Medicine", the foursome from Georgia presents us with a rock and roll disc flavored with southern flair and served with a fresh marinade of heavy and back to the roots - rock.
Compared to the previous album "Snake In The Grass" there has been a noticeable change. Here the rock and roll sow is let loose. Already the opener "Get Ready" clearly shows where the journey is going. The basses pump powerfully, the guitars howl, the skins are constantly being processed, and Adam Musick's voice is rich and intense. Guitar solos unite in melodic embraces. "Rising Star" has a real country feeling. Greetings from the whole range of former country rock heroes, although the thought of pure duplication never arises.
The quartet easily shakes the tones out of their sleeves. Structures form and are discarded again. Chords evoke memories and fade away. However, the rock and roll attitude is never lost, the pressure zone is never left. "Freeway" verbally and acoustically recreates the Velvet Underground, the stylistic range the quartet seemingly effortlessly pulls out of its sleeve is amazing. It's easy going on with "Real To Me", mid-tempo basic lines and a vocalist who presents thoroughbred stadium rock without a period or comma. Neil Young could have been the inspiration for these refrains that envelop you and are medicine for the auditory membranes...
