Adriano Clemente - The Coltrane Suite and Other Impressions (2023)

Those who are familiar with my Mingus Suite (Dodicilune 2016) will find a parallel in this new project dedicated to John Coltrane (1926-1967), one of the giants of modern jazz, in that this, too, is a work of music that wants to tell a story as if it were a movie for the ears. In his liner notes to A Love Supreme, Coltrane wrote: “During the year 1957, I experienced, by the grace of God, a spiritual awakening which was to lead me to a richer, fuller, more productive life. At that time, ingratitude, I humbly asked to be given the means and privilege to make others happy through music.”

He also said in an interview: “I want to be a force for real good. In other words, I know that there are bad forces, forces that bring suffering to others and misery to the world, but I want to be the opposite force. I want to be the force which is truly for good.”
