Garden Centre - Searching for a Stream (2023) Hi-Res

It’s a throwback album with rock n’ roll bringing to mind The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and all correlated bands with similar sounds. This type of laid back surfer-esque rock has been proven effective for alleviating summer stresses with its fun, beach time twangs, and still is fairly effective — relatively. It depends how much you adhere to this ancient style in the modern day.

Here they are: rinky-dink organs, an interestingly basic sounding bass guitar, and harmonized vocals. The music is carefree with simplistic guitar work as quiet as the air. Attempting to find extras that aren’t there is as fruitless as a dead blueberry bush. However, the album is rife with decently sung vocals that harmonize quite well, regardless of modern editing sounding on the backside.

One may contribute psychedelic music to this album, though I wouldn’t bother. The slightly wiggly organs don’t do much. The album plays out like any old rock band from ye olden days, sometimes the music is catchy, and sometimes less than. The perfect descriptor for this type of music is average, but good. It’s a decently chill time, in one ear and out the other, but at least it doesn’t disrupt my mood while doing so. If anything, it adds a little summery air to an otherwise potentially bland day. Such a basic composition, but quite worth a look.
