Norwegian singer/songwriter performing country in both a mellow and rocky style. Comes from Oslo.
Norwegian Karin Wright is out with her third album. It sounds dense and tough, and the opening track and title track, "Too Rock 'N' Roll For Country (Too Country For Rock'N' Roll)", sets the standard right away. Wright is an artist you believe in when you hear her and what may come across as lyrical platitudes still works when she performs it. Despite a tight and good band, she has a number of guest artists. Most notable is månefestival current Knut Reiersrud, who plays guitar on four of the songs. The best of them is "The Fool", a ballad that leaves little doubt that country is at least as close to her heart as rock. The album was arranged and produced by Martin Caspersen (Skrujern, Toini & the Tomcats) and on drums we find Per Madsen, both from Fredrikstad. "Too Rock 'n' roll..." has become a rough and catchy country rock album. Karin Wright proves to be a breath of fresh air in the country rock genre.
