Ropeadope alum Kaveh Rastegar has put together one of the most exciting albums we’ve heard in some time. Vocalist Dorian Holley has worked with Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart, and many more. His daughter Nayanna Holley is a veteran backup singer for Kelly Clarkson, P!nk, and more. Kaveh brought them to the studio with an amazing band: Larry Goldings, Abe Rounds, and Chris Bruce, and set out to capture the feeling of some of their favorite songs. The result is stunning: while it is hard to imagine paying perfect tribute to the likes of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, and Curtis Mayfield while making the song uniwue, this band has done exactly that. And that’s not all… the new album, titled DNA to reflect the legacy of a committed musical family, covers a broad pallette of artists. Peter Gabriel, The Cars, Blind Faith, The Isley Brothers and more are represented.
