La Bouche Manouche - Got a Little Rhythm! (2023)

La Bouche Manouche and I have been playing Gypsy jazz for almost 10 years together, bringing this incredible art form to music lovers far and wide. What really fascinates me about this music is its captivating rhythmic pulse and beautiful melodies and how it ALWAYS puts me in a better mood!

It’s been almost 4 years since the release of our debut album, "Roseland' and so much has happened in that time. Through the good and the bad moments, the unwavering commitment to make meaningful music and connect with people has really helped us make sense of these strange times we are living in. So for our second release, Andy and I decided that we wanted to record an upbeat album, one that would make people want to dance, put a smile on their face and forget their worries.

From Django to Billie Holiday, Sidney Bechet to Monk, Gypsy Jazz to Swing, "Got a Little Rhythm!" takes you on a journey through some of our favourite tunes arranged in our own sassy style. We’d like to think that you can put it on anytime to join us with foot tapping fun, a quick dance, quiet reflection or a good old sing-along!

Cue a bright, sunny day last April, when the band and I headed down to the docklands in East London to record the album. This is where Lightship 95 is moored, a fascinating recording studio which is actually a converted floating lightship painted bright red. Disclaimer : I didn't actually know this at the time of booking the studio and since I get very easily seasick, it could have been a bit of a disaster! BUT…we managed to make the magic happen.

We carefully handpicked these songs and creatively worked our way through them to bring you what we think is a joyous collection of tunes and a celebration of the most important things in life. We hope you love listening to this album as much as we have loved making it. Keep it jazzy, Ire x
