Howard Shelley - Mendelssohn: Complete Piano Music, Vol. 1 (2013) CD-Rip

Howard Shelley is an acknowledged expert in the area of early Romantic piano music. With this disc, Shelley presents the first installment of a six-volume set of Mendelssohn's complete solo piano music - perhaps the least well-known part of the composer's repertoire. Mendelssohn composed or began nearly two hundred works for piano. However, only about seventy were published during his lifetime. They range from the Op.5 Capriccio, written in 1825, to the sixth volume of the Lieder ohne Worte Op.67, written in 1845. Some twenty-five additional pieces have been published posthumously. The remainder, whether fully drafted or fragmentary, were left to his musical estate or have disappeared. This first volume in Shelley's series includes Opp. 5, 6, and 7 and the first volume of his Lieder ohne Worte.
