Barbirolli's only session recording with the Czech Philharmonic was recorded in March 1962 with a new and high-quality sound! The magnificent and high-quality Barbirolli section explodes. One of the best performances played by the tone of the Czech Philharmonic in the golden age. A new coupling of two neat Wagner songs by Konwitschny recorded in 1960. For this reprint, a completely new mastering of a new direct DSD sound source from the original analog master tape of the home country. The best sound quality is reproduced with SACD. It is a permanent storage board.
Barbirolli (1899-1970) later left a stereo session recording with the Czech Philharmonic on the Supraphon label. Frank is also a rare repertoire for Barbirolli, which was recorded over three days when he performed as a guest in 1962. The Czech Philharmonic during this period of the Ancerl era is particularly fulfilling, which can be said to be the second heyday, and its characteristics can be fully heard in this recording. This Frank, which progresses slowly in a natural flow that is typical of Barbirolli, was a rare performance because it was a co-star with an excellent orchestra who understood the conductor's intentions well. Barbirolli's vibrant and bold music is a unique element. Furthermore, the recording of the supraphon at that time has a good sound even now, and you can hear the attractive tone of the orchestra.
Two Wagner songs with Konwitschny were coupled as a simultaneous recording. This sound source is two of Wagner's four orchestral songs originally recorded in 1960, and is also known as a masterpiece (the remaining two songs will be released on the simultaneous release of TWSA1064). Konwitschny's conductor with a clear view shows its true value in this performance, and it is very attractive including the tone of the Czech Philharmonic at that time, such as neat music making and excellent handling of melodic lines.
The recording is unique to Supraphon, and the warm sound with gloss in the high range is further refined, and the overtone components and the presence of the instrument are increased, and you can enjoy the sound with a clear view in every detail. The sound of the Supraphon label, which originally has a good texture, will be even more effective with the latest DSD. In addition to the unified tone of the violin part, the characteristic sounds of woodwinds and brass at that time are still wonderful to listen to.
