Last year, The Sidekicks decided to part ways after more than fifteen years of loyal service. Leaving the fans of the orphan quartet, the members decided to go solo and the first to do so was Steve Ciolek, singer and guitarist of the group. He presents his new solo project named Superviolet with a first album named Infinite Spring.
For these first proofs, Superviolet calls on Zac Little, a member of Saintseneca, at the helm. Of course, he doesn't really stray from what he was able to accomplish with The Sidekicks because we find a good dose of emo on compositions flirting between indie folk and pop-rock such as "Angels On The Ground" which opens the ball but also "Blue Songbirds Don't Cry" and "Good Ghost" with well-felt arrangements.
Listening to Infinite Spring, we feel that the specters of Modern Baseball or even Slaughter Beach, Dog reign throughout. But the musician from Ohio still manages to breathe a wind of originality by opening the doors of his intimacy through the rich arrangements of "Dream Dating" with his well-felt clarinet solo but also of "Locket" and "Overrater where accents worthy of the 1960s and 1970s reign supreme. The baroque sounds echo the pop-punk / emo influences, especially on the overpowering finale named "Wave Back" showing an artistic renaissance of Superviolet ready to last.
