Christopher Cross (Christopher Cross, present. name Christopher Geppert, b. May 3, 1951 in San Antonio) is an American author and singer of songs, who won the Oscar, Golden Globe and five Grammy Awards in the first two years of his musical career.
Cross is known for his debut album "Christopher Cross" released in 1980, the style of which is sometimes jokingly defined as "yacht rock". In the wake of the commercial success of the ballad "Sailing", Cross was proclaimed the new hope of popular music and at the next Grammy Awards ceremony he proved to be the main triumphant, winning for the first time in history in all four "genre" nominations — "discovery of the year", "album of the year", "record of the year" and "song of the year".
The following year, Cross wrote and performed a song for the popular comedy "Arthur" with Liza Minnelli and was awarded an Oscar for this work.
