Adrien Moignard & Diego Imbert - Django's Songs (2023)

It's been 70 years since Django Reinhardt disappeared. But his music survived him and how! Even if we are in 2023, she remains of a youth and enthusiasm that do not give her her age at all. It is undoubtedly for this reason that, in addition to the symbolism of the date, many artists continue to pay tribute to this incredible artist who knew how to make gypsy jazz so popular. It is undoubtedly exactly for these reasons that, strongly marked by the music of Django, the guitarist Adrien Moignard and the double bassist Diego Imbert have joined forces to pay tribute to the interpreter of "Minor Swing". Obviously for them, especially since they have already evolved together, notably within the trio of violinist Didier Lockwood. With the latter, they have already participated in a commemorative album on Tony Gatlif's "Django Drom" project in 2010.

And what better way to honor their "master" than to cover some of his greatest pieces in a project? They have therefore reinterpreted twelve songs by the master in "Django's Songs" thus carrying very high the art of conversation faithful to the spirit of their inspiration as to the eternal flame of jazz. But if they bring their own vision of this work, they also remain particularly faithful to it by taking a minimalist bias with an acoustic formation containing only a guitar and a double bass. And, far from distorting the music of their idol, they give it a facelift and also shine the spotlight on lesser-known themes by offering their re-reading. Together, they offer a new setting for this shimmering music. A real success.
