English musician, singer, songwriter and guitarist. Born 29/10/1944 in Birmingham, UK.
He started his professional career fronting Denny Laine And The Diplomats. Leaving the Diplomats, he became an original member of The Moody Blues, singing the band's first hit "Go Now !" in 1964. In December 1966, after leaving The Moody Blues, he formed Denny Laine's Electric String Band. They soon broke up and Laine and bandmate Trevor Burton went on to join the band Balls from February 1969 until their break-up in 1971, with both also taking time to play in Ginger Baker's Air Force in 1970. In 1971, he joined forces with Paul McCartney and Linda McCartney to form Wings, and he remained with the group for ten years until they disbanded in 1981. After leaving Wings, Laine pursued a career as a solo artist. From 1997 to 2002, he toured with the rock supergroup World Classic Rockers. Later on, he formed his own band, The Denny Laine Band.
Recipient of two Grammy Awards, he moved to the United States in the mid-1990s.
He was briefly married to Jo Jo Laine (1978-?), with whom he had a son, Laine Hines, & a daughter, Heidi Jo Hines. Father of three other children from other relationships: Lucianne Grant (with Helen, daughter of Led Zeppelin manager Peter Grant), Damian James (with model Catherine James) and Ainsley Laine-Adams.
Reborn is the tenth solo studio album from Denny Laine. It is his last all-original release until 2001. It was reissued in 2001 as Reborn...Again by The Store for Music with bonus tracks.
Denny became friends with local property developer John Ashworth in Rossendale, Lancashire and they built a recording studio in the basement of John’s home in Whalley - Bramley Meade - which was a former maternity hospital.
The cover photo of Reborn is Denny stood in the entrance to Bramley Meade, with John Ashworth’s Bentley parked outside.
Denny also wrote the songs for a musical titled Arctic Song which was performed by the students of Stonyhurst College where John Ashworth’s two sons attended.
Arctic Song was released on CD in 1998 but wasn’t widely publicised. Denny performed all the songs in the CD.
