Violinist Junko Makiyama's new album is a cover album of jazz arrangements of classical songs.
My goal is to overcome the barriers of various genres with the violin, which has a strong classical image.
The Slovenian Suite, which was released six years ago, was an opportunity for the world to recognize his performance style. And in her previous work "ALEGRIA", she made full use of the electric violin to obtain a new sound spread.
After that, her life changed completely due to the corona crisis that hit the world. In the dark days when the exit was invisible, cellist Seji Nakabayashi and pianist Tatsuya Harada of the same age were rehearsing together.
I have been working with them for a long time as a unit that performs jazz arrangements of classical songs. (The video of the "European Jazz Trio" playing classical music arranged in a jazz arrangement in an old castle can be said to be the pursuit of a light that has been lit in the heart.) The three classmates who have classical music in the background, sometimes harmoniously and sometimes violently, create sparks. The casual conversations that scatter are also a flavor of live performances, and we are performing in various places.
I am very happy to have the opportunity to make an album with such friends.
