NikNak - Night EP (2023)

DJ and experimental turntablist NikNak shares new EP ‘Night’, out now on First Terrace Records, marking the London based artist’s debut for the independent label in which she sits comfortably alongside Bianca Scout, Specimens and Kerry Leimer. Created around themes of darkness and dreams, ‘Night’ is an explorative journey that takes us from dusk through to dawn, delving into both its beauty and warped strangeness. Recorded using overnight soundscapes from Portugal in 2016 and samples from NASA space missions, NikNak created the body of the record by manipulating these recordings live on turntables over the past two years. She comments more on the concepts of ‘Nights’, saying it “encapsulates our connection to sleep, the repetitive nature of it and its healing qualities”.


Described as a "musical polymath" by Clash Magazine and cited as one of DJ Mag’s "Ones to Watch" in 2022, NikNak also recently remixed works by Phillip Glass for the ‘Refractions’ EP by PRS. NikNak has showcased her immersive and boundary pushing talents around the world having performed at Berghain, Glastonbury, Outlook, Dimensions, Cuidad Emergente in Argentina and FiftyLab Festival in Brussels over the years.
