Vexations: that's the title Konstantin Gropper gave to his second album. For him, Vaxations is not only the title of a piano piece by Eric Satie, but also and above all an expression of discomfort, disillusionment and anger. About the disharmony that reigns in the world. About the human conflict of belonging while at the same time wanting to be left alone. The highly anticipated sequel to Rest Now Weary Head is a concept album about the Stoics. Stoicism is the philosophy that teaches the development of self-control and fortitude as a means of overcoming destructive emotions. Under the pseudonym Get Well Soon, Gropper made a big impression in 2008 with his debut album Rest Now Weary Head! You Will Get Well Soon. Gropper was hailed, seen as the musical savior from Upper Swabia and the genius student of the Mannheim Pop Academy. That is not true, because Gropper is not a savior and has never said that the academy played an important role in his musical career. Be that as it may, the fact is that the audience was impressed by the warm sound of his band. The German newspaper FAZ repeatedly asked 'Where does he come from?', the French magazine Les Inrockuptibles described him as 'the invaluable alternative to the Tokio Hotel phenomenon', while NME dubbed him 'German Wunderkind'. VEXATIONS opens with the shots Gropper made behind his parents' house and ends with the fall of the Roman Empire. In between you will find Werner Herzog, Seneca (probably the most famous Stoic and the creator of this album), Georg Büchner, Homer, Peter Sloterdijk, Elisabeth Kübler-ross, Sartre, the latest developments in the field of conflict studies, the question of whether fear is a unavoidable part of human nature and the fear of being irrelevant (as seen through the eyes of Moby Dick). Musically, this album is overwhelming. The music has a lot of melodic depth and artful arrangements. Is so beautiful, dignified, graceful and majestic that the first listen is overwhelming. After that you will discover something new with every listen. The cover of Vexations is a painting by Romantic artist Adrian Ghenie whose work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world. Vexations also appears in a very limited edition in a hardcover book (16x19 cm) containing the bonus CD Songs For Films with another eight tracks
