Lipps,Inc. - Designer Music Casablanca Special D.J. Copy Vol.5 (1981) LP

A very interesting and very rare record. Despite the fact that the name "Designer Music" of this edition repeats the name of the 3rd numbered album of the band, this record is not an album. In fact, this is a collection of the best things of the band, which includes seven songs from all three giant discs released at that time, Lipps, Inc. The year of manufacture is unknown for sure, either 1981 or 1982. This release was released only in Japan and only in the "PROMO" variation, not for sale in stores, because this record was intended only for DJs. It was decorated very modestly, there was no inner envelope, neither was Obi. There was no drawing on the label ("apple") of the record. They didn't even make a new picture for the envelope, they just took the cover from the album "Designer Music" and decorated it in a plain dirty pink style, for some reason they didn't change the name either. In fairness, I must say that on the back of the envelope in Japanese there is a small article dedicated to the band's work (a kind of reference to "Melody") and the names of the albums from which the songs were taken. Perhaps, with the help of this disc, marketers wanted to probe the degree of popularity of the group among the population, in order to find out for themselves whether or not to release the next album. Or maybe it was some kind of promotion before the band's tour in Japan. Don't know. I personally liked this record right away and this is the only release of the Lipps Inc. band that I kept for myself. Because the band is quite good and even progressive in some ways for its time, but listening to its works with albums for my taste is a bit heavy. But the collection of the best things is the very thing! Therefore, I think that the Japanese did very well by making such a collection!
