The group The Walkers originated in 1963 from The Mosam Skiffle Group. With skiffle-accented pop music and vocals by Jean Innemee, The Walkers had a sound all their own. Their song There's no more corn (on the brasos) reached high places on charts all over the world. With the arrival of René Innemee in 1973, The Walkers' style changed towards country. However, the group remained successful.
In 1977 musicians from The Walkers, together with those from The Classics & Rainbow, won the first Limburgs Vastelaovesleedjes Konkoer. The winning song Vaan Eysde tot de Mookerhei has remained a carnival hit ever since.
At the end of 1979, The Walkers ceased to exist. In a changed line-up, the band continued as The Press.
