The color of the music of the guitarist and composer Krzysztof Puma Piasecki lies in the extraordinary universality of the jazz structure. The guitarist is a legendary virtuoso, escaping easy classifications, but at the same time he is a conformist for whom every musical matter and style becomes an idea for a neat interpretation.
Krzysztof Puma Piasecki is a graduate of the Katowice Academy of Music, Department of Jazz and Popular Music. Composer, arranger, teacher - one of the most versatile guitarists of the Polish music scene. He has recorded several original albums and dozens of albums as a session musician. Laureate of the International Jazz Improvisation Competition in Katowice, scholarship holder of the Berklee College of Music in Boston. In 1997, the magazine Gitara i Bas honored him with the title of the Best Jazz Guitarist. He has performed on stage with, among others, Mick Stern, Bob Malach, David Weckle, Scott Henderson, Dennis Chambers and Jeff Berlin; played with Jose Feliciano, Shirley Bassey, Alan White, Cindy, Carmine Appice, accompanied the stars of the Polish stage in concerts and recordings: Józef Skrzek, Hanna Banaszak, Ewa Bem, Urszula Dudziak, Grażyna Łobaszewska, Krystyna Prońko, Maryla Rodowicz, Lora Szafran , Anna Panas, Ryszard Rynkowski, Zbyszek Wodecki, Vox group; He played with Wiesław Pieregorólki's Big Band, Aleksander Maliszewski's Alex Band, Zbigniew Górny's Orchestra, Koman Band and Prońko Band. He collaborated with the elite of Polish jazz: Jarosław Śmietana, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Tomasz Szukalski, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Krzesimir Dębski, Krzysztof Ścierański, Bernard Maseli, Piotr Baron, Leszek Możdżer, Janusz Skowron, Henryk Miśkiewicz, Krzysztof Przybyłowicz, Zbigniew Wrombel, Piotr Wojtasik, Maciej Sikała and many others. The guitarist excels as a leader and musician of many original formations: The 3RIO, Charlie Green & Krzysztof Puma Piasecki 4set, the duo Józek Skrzek & Krzysztof Puma Piasecki and the latest project Krzysztof Puma Piasecki & Adam Wendt (with the excellent album "We See the Light 59/ 62").
I am impressed by the latest session "Warm country", which Krzysztof Puma Piasecki realized with a galaxy of excellent musicians (saxophonists Adam Wendt and Jacek Hornik, violinist Andrzej Krawiec, trumpeter Ignacy Wendt, pianist Zdzisław Kalinowski, bassist Filip Hornik) and a distinguished group of invited guests (Grażyna Auguścik, Kuba Badach, Kasia Puma Piasecka, Mietek Szcześniak and rapper Spinache). The original album contains the guitarist's compositions (song lyrics were prepared by Tomasz Wołek) and is a synthesis of many of Krzysztof Puma Piasecki's earlier inspirations: from creative, modern jazz, to Górecki's inspirations, symphonic structures to jazz-rock fascinations. "Warm country" is another important recording of the guitarist. It attempts to confront the contemporary jazz mood: from the cheerful, melancholic song "Flights" by Grażyna Auguścik and "Warm Country" by Mietek Szcześniak and Kasia Piasecka to the sharp, hip-hop "Bum! Boom! Booze, Rum!” rapper Spinache. At the same time, the guitarist is musically and precisely constructed with his compositions and original sound.
