Brownie Guinan - Peat Sounds (2023)

It may have escaped, it may have been released. Either way Brownie Guinan’s new album, Peat Sounds, has landed. The album is an eclectic mix of upbeat bog pop and more sublime offerings.

Peat Sounds features Brownie’s self-penned songs and his take on some songs from the local archives. The 11-track album opens with Shannon Harbour Home and visits Boora, Lusmagh, Turraun, Cloghan, Ballinahowen, Banagher, Tyrellspass and concludes with a eulogy to his hometown of Ferbane with the occasional global dimension for good measure.

If Van Morrison represents the voice of Belfast, Damien Dempsey of Dublin, John Spillane of Cork, The Saw Doctors of Galway, perhaps Brownie Guinan can pitch his hat into the ring as a voice for the glorious Boglands of Ireland.
