Tū is a masterfull and highly original debut album from the very young New Zealand trio that is Alien Weaponry. The aggressive nature of Māori tribal war chants works so well with metal that it's amazing the no one has merged the two before (or maybe they have but I've not heard it). Maybe it's for the best that this combination has not been done before because Alien Weaponry have absolutely nailed it. Alien Weaponry combine Māori war chants, Māori language, cultural and historical references with punchy thrash metal, great songwriting and excellent musicianship to create a unique and highly enjoyable sound. This is not a run-of-the-mill metal album, this is something wonderfully different!
