Le Roi Angus - Sosie (2023)

The last time we heard from King Angus was in 2018 with their second album titled Do you see the tiger?. The Swiss group had confirmed with a unifying and definitely psychedelic record. Let's find out what the quintet has in store for us at the start of the year with their soberly titled successor Sosie.

For this new musical chapter, Le Roi Angus decides to come back down to earth a little. By summoning the renowned Renaud Letang at the helm, the Geneva quintet once again surprises with these poetic texts that echo the nostalgic compositions that are "Couchés sur le sable" which is a sublime introduction before broadening their horizons with dreamlike compositions. such as "Under your window" evoking symbolic places or also the sunny "Postquel" and "We are already gone".

Drawing their inspiration from Foxygen and Jacco Gardner who are palpable on “Love is outdated” and “Les mots simples”, Le Roi Angus brings a bit of sunshine back into his melodies. Resolutely smooth a bit like Homeshake and Infinite Bisous with a zest of Timber Timbre, the Geneva quintet continues to intoxicate us by contemplating the high spheres with "Others will come later" before accentuating their subject with the intense conclusion entitled " Sirens”. By opting for tranquility on Sosies, Le Roi Angus is one of the intergenerational formations that continue to amaze us.
