Nina Coric, Balkan Zoo - Recycle (2022)

Nina Ćorić is known for years from journalistic circles, but only recently did I know that she is engaged in flamenco music. An even more recent discovery for me was her connection with Romani music. The cooperation with the Balkan Zoo ensemble resulted in the album Recycle , in which these extremely talented musicians offered their vision of the most famous Roma songs.
Her love for Roma music makes a lot of sense when you know about her flamenco background. She is one of the few performers of flamenco music in this region and has been the organizer of the Zagreb International Flamenco Festival for ten years. Her latest project is a collaboration with HRT's Tamburica Orchestra, so we can definitely call her Nina out of a million projects!

Although the ethnic heritage in contemporary music has most often become a crutch on which even lower pop stars rely, 'Recycle' is a flawless and inspired album. On the contrary, it is a real textbook on how to deal with traditional music with the ambitions of new readings
