Pastis (Album). The fourth album of the Boz Trio, PASTIS, is an explosion of Central European colors and sounds, interpreted in a modern and personal key to restore that spontaneity to music which is an invitation to share a joyful time. The klezmer repertoire is reinterpreted with a style that is inspired by tradition as a starting material to look at with a new gaze and open to contamination, enhancing the different musical experiences of origin of each individual member of the group. The decision to combine pieces properly attributable to the Ashkenazi Jewish tradition with others from geographically close cultures strongly recalls the theme of travel, understood as an experience of meeting, exchanging and discovering new points of view on musical material as well as on human beings: from rhythms of the dances to the melodies of the songs, each element becomes the vehicle of a universal message.
Boz Trio is an ensemble of five musicians specializing in the repertoire of traditional Yiddish and Eastern European music. It was born in December 2011 as a group made up of three people from different musical backgrounds with a shared deep passion for popular music. Throughout the years, the original trio added other members resulting in the current group, which since 2016 has been carrying its own musical message with decisive charisma. Since the beginning, the spirit of the group has been to maintain a strong heterogeneity, in order to musically recreate different musical traditions that have always been connected. Klezmer, Gypsy, Balkan and Greek music find themselves coexisting as in a multi-ethnic neighborhood of a big city, giving life to a lively and colorful cosmos. Boz Trio concerts make their way through a broad range of contexts. The exuberant and hyperbolic nature of popular music animates shows suitable to different realities: from the big stages of summer festivals, to theater stages, farmhouses and historic houses, without forgetting the streets all over Europe on busking tours.
