This album presents the legendary American violinist Aaron Rosand’s first recordings. Made for Vox in 1956, Rosand’s interpretations of Brahms’s Violin Sonata No. 1 in G Major and Violin Sonata No. 2 in A Major have not been available since their initial short-lived release on LP in 1956.
Partnered with the American pianist Eileen Flissler, these heartfelt interpretations display the young Rosand at the beginning of his remarkable career which spanned over seven decades. Also included are Rosand and Flissler’s recordings of Beethoven’s three independent works for violin and piano. Although the composer’s ten sonatas were re-issued digitally, the shorter works, recorded in 1961, have never appeared until now.
