Work Wife - Quitting Season EP (2022) Hi-Re

Meredith Lampe is best known as a member of the Brooklyn surf-pop outfit Colatura, but the singer and musician also writes and records under the moniker Work Wife. Today she announces her debut solo EP Quitting Season with lead single “Ride, Ride,” a softly exhilarating indie-pop song that captures the bliss and blur of a long night out. “Meet me out, back outside / I’ll be there, passenger side / Engine’s on, so let’s ride,” Lampe sings in the opening verse, drawing out the last word as the production swells.

“‘Ride, Ride’ is inspired by the bittersweet feeling of being out with your friends late enough to see the sun come up,” she explains. “On one specific night, I recall dozing off on a stranger’s roof, only to wake up hours later locked out of the party and left to watch everyone on the street below heading to work.”
