"Multivocalizzo" – is a varied collection of easy listening pieces written and played by Italian composer and multi-instrumentalist Enzo Minuti, who often used the monikers Maripal and Ezy Minus. A Genoese by birth but Bolognese by adoption, Minuti was quite prolific in the library music field in the 1970s and 1980s.
Like in his previous album "Minus Vocal Group", whose focus on voices and choirs parallels that of I Cantori Moderni di Alessandro Alessandroni, Minuti explores the potential of hypnotic and captivating voices, this time adding to his ensemble Annamaria Rame, a semi-unknown but remarkably accomplished singer. The result is a sparkling, exciting and vivid mixture of different genres, with compositions ranging from rhythmic and danceable tracks with saxes in the foreground ("Rock Trotter"; "Free Animation") to abstract, atmospheric pieces with bewitching vocals in slow tempo ("Magia Notturna"; "Vocal Mirage"), and from gritty cinematic-funk compositions ("Southern Traffic") to Latin rhythms populated by quirky synths ("Sam-Bajon").
"Multivocalizzo" was originally released in the early 1970s on the Milan-based label Jump Edizioni Musicali as part of their Music Scene series (MS-8), and in just a few hundred copies to be circulated solely among sync professionals.
