In the silence lies the power
"Mad World" is an absolutely fitting title for Gentleman's new album. The Cologne native has always been known as an advocate of pacifism and unity among people. Therefore, the current world political situation will certainly worry him.
On his last album "Blaue Stunde" Gentleman sang in German for the first time two years ago. It was an experiment that was a complete success: the album was very well received by his fans, and 10th place in the charts is also something to be proud of. In addition, the German-language songs allowed Gentleman to invite friends like Sido, Johannes Oerding and Bozza to support him.
On "Mad World," however, Gentleman now takes a step back and sings in English and patois, as he did on his earlier albums. The title track is based on the hit of the same name by Tears For Fears and questions the modern consumer society and the exploitation of the earth. But it's not all seriousness on Gentleman's eighth album, of course. "Can't Lock The Dance" is an entertaining party song and "Things Will Be Greater" is an anthem of courage, as you know and love it from the Cologne native.
The album "Mad World" was created during a phase in Gentleman's life in which he escaped the fast and at the same time superficial life of the big city and re-situated himself amidst the inspiring landscape of Mallorca: with organic food and fewer digital distractions. More natural impressions now define his everyday life. This reduction of complexity is reflected in song like "Over The Hills": the solutions to an increasingly complicated world lie in simplicity. And in the belief that, in the end, good will triumph after all - whether in the big picture or in the small, personal.
