Downtempo, ambient and meditative, Medusozoa Vol II is a compilation of tracks made for deep listening, reflection and procrastination. Spotlighting previously unreleased songs and fresh new finds, the album takes listeners on a journey through moods across genres, giving flight to the imagination.

With a busy year coming to an end, Tartelet Records is taking a step back to pause and reflect.
Releasing on Friday, November 25th, Medusozoa Vol II is a compilation of 20 introspective, ambient and downtempo tracks from across the planet – all carefully selected for their healing qualities.

Alongside previously unreleased material by Space Ghost, Zopelar, Glenn Astro, Max Graef and Uffe, the album also features recent signings the likes of ABUNAI, Athletic Whippet, Brynjolfur, Doc Sleep and Sans Merit (a new project by Francis Inferno Orchestra), plus a few classics from the back catalogue courtesy of Henry Wu & Tito Wun, among others.

Ahead of the compilation, six tracks will be released as singles – one per week – starting October 12th.

The first single “4 AM” by label-mainstay Space Ghost is an ode to golden age 90s ambient. Combining warm, spacey pads and soft pulsating synth lines with the sounds of nature, the California native offers up a dreamy and otherworldly escape.

Uffe returns with his first release on Tartelet since his 2016 album. “Sunrise, Coffee and Cigarettes” is, as the title suggests, a track made for slow mornings. Build around percussive patterns and dubbed out piano chords, the track has a meditative and hypnotic quality to it, complemented by a warm and soothing bassline.

On “1993 Amboy Ave” LA-based ABUNAI collaborates with Oakland MC kissingpractice. Born out of their love for hazy, melancholic hip-hop, the track is about new love and falling into it too quickly.

On “Cala Olivera”, Modula delivers laid-back cosmic funk. “The song is about a man captured by the beauty and wilderness of Cala Olivera, a mystical inlet in Ibiza.” Rapping in Italian, Modula recounts a newfound connection with the Balearic Island.

Nelson of the East comes through with “Tribe 92”, a throwback to 90s Balearic-meets-hip-house with spaced out pads and trippy melodies.

São Paulo native, Zopelar, contributes a slice of warm, sun-soaked Brazilian jazz-funk with “Rio” – a track that pays tribute to his roots and the pioneers of 80s Brazil-sound.

Whether taking listeners back to a time in the past, to a daydream in the future, or fully immersing them into the present, all tracks were selected for their restorative and relaxing qualities, giving listeners a reason to find comfort in today’s climate of uncertainty.
