Following the end of the Cayetana adventure a few years earlier, the members of the group did not sit back. This is particularly the case for Augusta Koch who was a member of the group and who continued with the group Gladie who managed to make a name for themselves in the American underground indie rock. Today, the formation from Philadelphia returns with a new album entitled Don't Know What You're In Until You're Out.
Through these eleven new titles, Augusta Koch celebrates her recent sobriety and does not hesitate to take stock of her life. The result is compositions halfway between power-pop and emo that his former group Cayetana would not have denied, including "Born Yesterday" laying the foundations of this revival before gaining height with "Mud" and "Nothing".
Gladie knows how to measure the contemplative aspect and the inside-out side for maximum contrasts. With other punchy pieces like "Hit The Ground Running" or even "Soda" and "Heaven, Someday", Augusta Koch takes a step back from her life by opening up to us without shame about her health. and her new life as a sober woman. It's going to sound pejorative to say that but listening to other compositions like "Fixer", "For A Friend" and the elegant conclusion called "Something Fragile", Don't Know What You're In Until You're Out is in some ways the album of maturity for Gladie. And that's without counting on the talent of Augusta Koch who shines by offering us a kind of personal redemption.
