When Georgie Bonds sings a song, he owns it. His sweet but powerful voice delivers his pain, his joy, his passion, and his history with every song. It's genuine and you can't help but be moved. He’s paid his dues by overcoming many difficult obstacles, some self-inflicted, arising along his life's journey. By refusing to yield and by conquering them, Georgie became stronger and wiser. It is our good fortune that his path led to this recording.

As a young man in the Germantown area of Philadelphia, Georgie was in and out of trouble. In the late 1970's, this led to a two year stint as a guest of the Federal government. Released in 1979 and determined to straighten out his life, Georgie apprenticed as a blacksmith and for the next 14 years earned his living shoeing horses. While he had a lifelong love of music, particularly the R&B of his youth, Georgie didn't start performing until the 1990's. Inspired by a Robert Johnson tape loaned to him by a friend, he dedicated himself to the Blues. His first performance was singing Stormy Monday at a Blues jam at the Barbary in Philadelphia. There Georgie met his mentor, the great Sonny Rhodes, who significantly influenced his early musical career.

Beginning in 1994, a series of health issues confronted Georgie, including a near fatal reaction to prescription medication, kidney failure, and a double hip replacement. Even though these issues put his blossoming music career in jeopardy, Georgie would not be denied and released his first CD, Sometimes I Wonder, in 2001. Later, in 2003, he was recruited for the cast of the Philadelphia production of the Tony award winning show "It Ain't Nothin' But The Blues."
With his music career back on track, Georgie once again was challenged by a new set of health issues. However, true to form, as his recovery progressed, Georgie began to perform again at venues all around Philadelphia. In 2012, with the support of many friends and fans, Georgie launched the project to produce this CD. The result is pure Georgie at his best. The music speaks for itself.

The noted literary and music critic Albert Murray once said that the fundamental characteristic of a blues-oriented hero is simply "continuity in the face of adversity." Georgie Bonds not only continues, he thrives. Enjoy!
