Founded in Liverpool U.K.1974, by sax-player and singer Albie Donnelly, Supercharge started out as a very innovative and also unique band. After the first album "Between Music And Madness" (sic.) the band was signed by Virgin Records. With Producer "Mutt" Lange they came to really big success in Australia ("Local Lads Make Good" went gold) and also had a big triumph when opening for QUEEN at the Hyde Park for about 100.000 spectators.
Beeing dropped from Virgin during the Punk-era - the band went back to the college-circuit, where their "mad" (that's a mild expression) show caused a sensation.
Next step was the "invasion" of Europe - at that stage the band (members: Gaz Gaskell, Bob Hardy, Mick Kearns & Stephen Grant - left later to form JUKE) hooked up with manager "Memo"Rhein. He took the band after extensive touring to the "high society" - Tina Onassis' wedding (Groovers In Paris), Parties for Gunter Sachs at St.Moritz and Adnan Kashoggi were the highlights of those years.
After the Juke-part had left for it's own dark destination - Dave Shepley and John "Fat Ted" Lewis helped Albie to convert Supercharge into a serious part of 1990's Blues-scene. European tours with CHUCK BERRY & B.B.KING took the band back to stadiums and big concert halls.
The next line-up with Nashville keyboard-player and singer Greg Barrett showed more of a soulful (and sometimes quiet) side of Supercharge, you can listen to some music of that period on the album "Big Blow".
With the beginning of a new millenium - Albie decided to bring back what had achieved the most success in the past years - strong and powerful Rhythm'n'Blues.
