Strange Beauty, Jeff Libman's 2nd album as leader, features dynamic performances that brim with melody and musicality.
Strange Beauty is Chicago-born and Phoenix-based guitarist Jeff Libman's second album as a leader. Featuring intricate arrangements of beloved songs from the American Songbook, an early Beatles tune, a hard bop classic by Horace Silver, and three memorable original compositions, Strange Beauty is unified by Libman's consistently melodic approach and is imminently listenable from beginning to end. The quartet also features pianist Michael Kocour, a frequent sideman to Benny Golson; newcomer Ben Hedquist, who has quickly become one of Phoenix's busiest bassists; and veteran drummer Dom Moio, who has performed with dozens of jazz luminaries such as Ahmad Jamal, Clark Terry, and Herb Ellis.
